Ok, ok, so it’s technically a children’s shop, but the ultra soft t-shirts and underwear that Petit Bateau has been churning out since the 1890s are so tempting that even grownups (ourselves included) can’t resist. The brand’s signature white cotton tops frequently appear on high fashion runways (couturiers consider the classic tight-shouldered tees the gold standard of plain t-shirts), but if you’re not skinny enough to squeeze into children’s sizes like the teeny-tiny models can, no worries! Petit Bateau has recently launched an adult line, too.

WHY WE LIKE IT
The classic cuts and super soft cottons are irresistible. We always stock up on their tees when we’re in town (Petit Bateau tops and underwear are available worldwide, but much cheaper in Paris). And, should we actually be shopping for children instead of ourselves, we appreciate the excellent quality and great guarantees–these are pieces that can survive the rough and tumble lifestyle of even the rowdiest kids.
GOOD TO KNOW
In 1918, Petit Bateau designer Etienne Valto invented cotton briefs, changing world underwear culture forever with a few snips of the scissors. Good work, Etienne!
