    VIBE

Back in the day, it was Italian mafiosos (think: Gotti) who ruled the block in this northern chunk of Little Italy. These days, now that gentrifying forces have glammed up the district’s historic tenement buildings and chic fashion-forward types have set up shop, Italian leather handbags are the "godfathers" of these streets. Particularly fertile shopping ground in Nolita extends across Mott, Mulberry, and Elizabeth Streets, all of which are lined with posh one-of-a-kind boutiques like vintage emporium Resurrection and an outpost of island-inspired fashion house Calypso St. Barth.

    WHY WE LIKE IT

There are tons of interesting independent boutiques to explore. We’re always up for an afternoon of café hopping and boutique trawling in Nolita, especially if we’re on the hunt for a fashionably offbeat outfit or accessory.

    GOOD TO KNOW

The name Nolita means “North of Little Italy.” (Originally it was considered part of Little Italy, and famous Italian-American residents have included the likes of Martin Scorsese.) Just to the west of Nolita is chichi SoHo, while to the east is the edgier Lower East Side.
