    VIBE

New Yorkers have had a love affair with Keith McNally’s retro European eateries ever since he first wooed them with French brasseries The Odeon and Balthazar. He’s now begun to dabble in Italian trattorias (exhibit A: Morandi), and his popularity is no worse for wear. The interiors are decked out in the familiar weathered-chic look (worn wood planks, chandeliers, brick archways) that’s his calling card, while the menu offers a wide range of Italian entrées prepared in a rustic wood oven by chef Tony Liu. The highlight remains the small plates like fried artichokes and grilled octopus.

    CROWD

Fans of McNally’s other restaurants, groups of friends looking for a hearty meal, and couples young and old.

    WHAT WE WOULD WEAR

Opt for a smart casual ensemble–a sweater, jeans, and flats with fun accessories would do.

    WHY WE LIKE IT

Though perhaps not of the same caliber as his famous brasseries, McNally scores once again with this venue’s solid menu, romantic ambiance, and quaintly charming décor. The weekend brunch is a solid hit.

    WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE

At peak times, the noise levels can be deafening level. It definitely zaps the romance of dinner when you have to shout at your partner to pass the pepper.

    GOOD TO KNOW

In the warmer months, guests are encouraged to dine at the sidewalk tables. A bar menu is available for those who can’t secure a seat in the main area. Takeout and delivery are available.
