    VIBE

The epitome of the New York neighborhood coffee shop. The white tile walls, worn-out wooden floors, overloaded community message board, and no-nonsense menu of classics like filter coffee and bagels would be cliché if they weren’t so darn authentic. The consistent set of regulars congregates daily for the excellent coffee and cakes, so if you can’t score one of the handful of wooden chairs tucked against the wall, get your joe to go and either sip it on the wooden bench outside under the green-and-white awning or take it with you as you stroll through the Village.

    CROWD

Mainly West Village locals looking for a morning cuppa. This also happens to be a popular spot for local celebs (like Danny DeVito, so we’ve heard) to stop by for a snack.

    WHAT WE WOULD WEAR

    Anything goes.

    GO HERE WITH

    A couple of friends; yourself

    WHY WE LIKE IT

We go swoony for the old school charm. The coffee is the real deal; the blueberry muffins are still hot in the morning; and the pastries, sandwiches, and soups are all great too. We like to sit on the bench outside and listen to the local gossip.

    WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE

The service is a little on the slow side, so this is probably not a good place to grab a pre-commute coffee.

    GOOD TO KNOW

Be sure to bring Fido–Bonsignour is super pet friendly. They even leave doggie water bowls outside.
