    VIBE

This classic pizza parlor in the shadow of the Brooklyn Bridge plays it old school with surly service and strict “no delivery” and “no pizza by-the-slice” policies. But that doesn’t stop streams of locals and tourists from lining up down the sidewalk for a chance to indulge in one of those legendary pies. And it’s easy to understand the appeal: the charred, crispy thin crusts topped with housemade mozzarella are worthy of the hype.

    CROWD

A never-ending mob of tourists and hopeful locals looking to beat the rush.

    WHAT WE WOULD WEAR

Keep it casual with a funky tee, hip jeans (that will allow for stuffed tummies), and cool kicks.

    GO HERE WITH

Groups of friends; family; kids; a casual date (you can get to know each other as you wait in line)

    WHY WE LIKE IT

There’s nothing like sitting down for a pie at one of (if not THE) best pizza places in the city. It’s a tourist trap, maybe, but you’ll quickly forget any misgiving after one mouthful.

    WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE

You have to order a whole pizza–no individual slices sold here. (Better show up hungry.)

    GOOD TO KNOW

No reservations, and cash only so stock your wallet before getting in line. They don’t offer delivery, but takeout is available. If you really want Grimaldi’s and want to bypass the lines, take the A Slice of Brooklyn Tour–when this half day tour stops here, you get the thrill of sauntering past all the plebs in line.

Hoboken; Garden City; Douglaston; Las Vegas; Palm Beach Gardens; Ft. Meyers; Dallas; San Antonio; Scottsdale; Tucson; among other US locations
