    VIBE

This classic American tavern manages to convey a sense of the country without neglecting its big city roots. American touches like a chalkboard at the bar with a handwritten daily drink list and grainy wood floors give a folksy feel, while large windows showcase the city street outside and the urbane cuisine is very much of the New York scene. Given the mix of urban and rustic vibes, we feel equally comfortable strolling in for an afternoon bite as we do gliding in for a celebratory dinner.

    CROWD

A mix of business types, special occasioners, and mature (35+) diners.

    WHAT WE WOULD WEAR

This is no ordinary tavern. We’d go uptown casual with a cape, sweater, slim pants, and riding boots. Or, if we’re looking for something dressier, a long sleeve dress with our favorite Manolos and a pretty clutch.

    WHY WE LIKE IT

The pairing of classic American fare and an upscale, refined setting. We also like how the staff is savvy about the local ingredients that many of the dishes are crafted from.

    WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE

Not much, other than perhaps to offer lunch on the weekends.

    GOOD TO KNOW

Lunch is not served on the weekends, although you can grab a bite at the tables or bar in the front tavern area (we like to drop in for an afternoon snack or drink).

    CLOSEST COMPS

Blue Hill (New York); Lucques (Los Angeles)
