    VIBE

Though Brasserie may never return to its 1959 heyday, that doesn't meant this reborn French restaurant isn't making waves of its own. A space-age redesign brought in cushy retro booths, milky see-through tabletops, and a behind-the-bar backlit wall showcasing wine bottles galore. The kitchen prepares modern versions of French classics with as much wow-factor as the décor. The descending staircase at center stage ensures every arrival gets a moment in the spotlight.

    CROWD

Groups of corporate diners and heavy-hitting Midtowners looking for a relaxed yet sophisticated meal. This is a great spot for a power lunch without the pretention. While it's buzzing at weekday lunch, the space is generally more empty at breakfast and dinner, and on weekends.

    WHAT WE WOULD WEAR

Keep it elegant yet casual with a chic shift top, sleek pants, fancy heels, and an effortless-looking updo.

    WHY WE LIKE IT

It strikes just the right balance between buttoned up and fun loving. We dig the great food and accessible menu, as well as the surprisingly friendly vibe right near business-heavy Park Avenue.

    WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE

It's too bad the original space is no more, but we like what we see here.

    GOOD TO KNOW

The former Brasserie was a Seagram Building landmark from the 1950s. It has since been redesigned, having burnt to the ground in a fire in 1995. We like the booths that ring the outer walls the best−be sure to request one when making your reservation.
