VIBE
The New York outlet of this venerable Milanese luxury restaurant chainlet embraces an appropriately Midtown power set air. The bright dining areas feature high-peaked ceilings, oversized floral arrangements, sleek wooden chairs, and guests as polished as the plates they are served. The vast array of classic Northern Italian dishes (known for their robust sauces, homemade pastas, and cheeses galore) comes complete with sky-high price tags fit for the finance industry clientele.
CROWD
Power lunchers, international jetsetters, and tourists looking to splurge.
WHAT WE WOULD WEAR
It's a classy affair; go with a crisp blouse, pencil skirt, flashy stilettos, and tasteful piece of jewelry. Business attire works too.

WHY WE LIKE IT
We love that the pasta is made fresh daily, and that the service, typical of a New York restaurant of this caliber, is flawless. If sitting inside amongst the high rollers seems a bit intimidating, the front café section and sidewalk seating provide (slightly) more low key alternatives.
WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE
Most likely due to the plethora of financial services companies in the direct vicinity, this Bice location has a very business vibe. If you go outside of business hours (weekend lunch, for example), the buzzing atmosphere is largely missing.
GOOD TO KNOW
Bice was started in Milan in 1926 by Beatrice “Bice” Ruggeri, and the company is still run by the Ruggeri family. As it's situated near the Theater District (sort of–just follow 54th Street west a few long blocks), the restaurant offers a three-course prix fixe dinner for theater goers. The Palm Beach location is another of our favorites.
