    VIBE

The hunting lodge takes on a veneer of Old World luxury at the Bowery Hotel’s lobby lounge, where sumptuous velvet sofas in rose and olive tones are juxtaposed against lantern lighting, a fireplace, and a spindly collection of antlers. Everyone here seems to be in their element; animated conversation (fueled by spiced cocktails and fine Scotches) distracts attention from nifty touches like curiosity cabinets, a mural of historic New York, and looming tapestries.

    WHAT WE WOULD WEAR

Go chic casual with a blouse, stylish jeans, fancy flats, and funky jewelry.

    GO HERE WITH

A group of friends; clients or colleagues; significant other - to take in the romantic digs; a date - for post-dinner imbibing

    CROWD

Groups of hotel guests and 30-something professionals, mixed with beautiful and glamorous out-of-towners.

    WHY WE LIKE IT

For surrounds this swank and semi-exclusive, the bartenders and accompanying staff are surprisingly friendly and gracious–refreshing after the attitude often found at bars of similar caliber.

    WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE

There is a fabulous mosaic-tiled back patio attached to the space, but it is strictly reserved for hotel guests only (unless you can figure out a way to successfully beg or bribe the doorstaff).

    GOOD TO KNOW

Designed by Eric Goode and Sean MacPherson, the masterminds behind the Maritime Hotel, Waverly Inn, and La Bottega.

    CLOSEST COMPS

Hudson Library (New York); The Crosby Bar & Terrace (New York); Le Bar de L’Hotel (Paris)
