It may come as no surprise to those familiar with Donald Trump’s empire that the Trump International is pretty flashy. Luckily (for those who aren’t so into flash), you can at least take off your sunglasses indoors because Trump’s style has mellowed over the years: the newly renovated rooms are surprisingly restrained (save for the gold-plated fixtures and 55-in. TVs), and the crisp, formal service is more Old World than nouveau riche. The personal attaché service and plethora of onsite amenities mean you shall want for nothing…except company. Besides the swanky Jean Georges restaurant, public spaces are pretty lacking.

WHY WE LIKE IT

The service is flawless (seriously–your wish is really their command), and the rooms are unquestionably swanky (think rich woods, velvet curtains, and full kitchens). Plus, the location (just across from the Time Warner Center and Central Park) is fantastic, whether you’re in town for business or pleasure.

WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE

There’s not really a lobby (just a small space with three couches, all of which are usually taken up by idling business suits)–would be nice to have more public space. Also, all that bling emblazoned with “Trump”…it gets a bit much.

GOOD TO KNOW

Picky eaters rejoice: in-room fridges come fully stocked to your specifications. Valet parking, personalized business cards and stationery, and a full business center are available. This is actually quite a family-friendly hotel; the Trump Kids program offers everything from cribs and swimming lessons to personalized kiddie stationery. Pets are welcome.
