As one of the first hip hotels to open in the now hot-hot-hot Meatpacking District, Hotel Gansevoort has some serious trendsetter creds. Sex and the City types rave about the heated rooftop pool (complete with underwater sound system), see-and-be-seen club and lounge, and slick glass-and-steel design. Even non-hipsters delight in the comfortable, generously proportioned rooms, luxe amenities like the full-service spa, and, of course, the outstanding 360 degree views of the Hudson River and the bright city lights.

WHY WE LIKE IT
We dig how this self-described “resort” packs in a range of amenties rarely found in NYC’s cramped hotels: a full spa, a huge gym, a pool, and even some trendy nightlife. The steady stream of trendsters coming for the club, bar, and pool lend a sexy, buzzy atmosphere–perfect for when we’re in town to party.
AMENITY WE LOVE
The rooftop pool has to be our favorite, though we also dig the complimentary access to the hydrotherapy pools in the spa (and those luxuriously comfy beds).
WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE
The translucent glass bathroom doors…a bit more privacy please!
GOOD TO KNOW
Some suites have steam rooms and step-out balconies, so be sure to specify if you want either when booking. The pool is always crowded—get there early if you want to snag a seat. Hotel Gansevoort is super kid friendly, with complimentary amenities including cribs, diapers, lunch boxes packed with treats, and in-room Wii’s. Pets are also welcome and even provided with their own set of goodies.
