Much to our delight, British boutique chainlet Firmdale has finally made the leap across the pond, bringing its signature English eccentricity with it. As always, the eye-popping décor mixes classic English stylings with kooky colors, textures, and prints. No two guest rooms are the same, and public spaces like The Crosby Bar & Terrace and guests-only “Drawing Room” are equally and splendidly offbeat-chic–the perfect launching pad for a stylish city break.

WHY WE LIKE IT

As at other Firmdale properties, Kit Kemp’s stylishly quirky take on classic English décor is a visual treat. Also, the convenient SoHo location can’t be beat.

AMENITY WE LOVE

The guests-only courtyard. What a treat to have exclusive green space access in NYC! We also dig the fabulous views (either of SoHo or the Lower East Side) from the huge, floor-to-ceiling windows.

WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE

The service has been reported to be hit-or-miss. Hopefully once the Firmdale team settles into life on this side of the Atlantic, these teething troubles will clear up.

GOOD TO KNOW

Crosby Street hosts a weekly Sunday evening cinema club in its chic 99-seat screening room. Screenings are open to hotel guests and the public, and dinner and a movie costs USD 50 per person. (Films range from new releases to black-and-white classics.) The hotel is one of the greenest in the city, and was one of the first to obtain LEED certification (the strictest green certification available in the US). Pets are welcome (provided you let the hotel know in advance).
