    VIBE

Folksy fine dining. Friendly owner Joe Miller chitchats with the regulars and woos newcomers with his cheerful banter at this buzzing Venice neighborhood spot known for its posh noshes. The décor is tasteful yet casual–the neutral, beachy interiors layer soft features like pearly banquettes with the crisp whites and crystal of precise table settings. Primo seats are on the airy, covered terrace. The main dining room is small and intimate.

    CROWD

The swish yet laidback atmosphere draws relaxed special occasion and date crowds. The food–especially the brunch–brings in local devotees.

    WHAT WE WOULD WEAR

We’d go for a relaxed upscale casual look–a cute skirt, nice flats, and a delicate blouse.

    WHY WE LIKE IT

We like the perfect balance of upscale and chilled out vibes, and the food is lovely, too. Great for a dressed-up family brunch or an intimate chat with a date. Service is as it should be–kind and familiar. When part of our order was forgotten, we were given our food for free (and issued many apologies)!

    WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE

The up-and-down quality of the cuisine (as evidenced by the fact that they were awarded a Michelin Star in 2008 but lost it in 2009).

    GOOD TO KNOW

Brunch and lunch are a bargain, especially the prix fixe.
